The Kennish Link to The Statue of Liberty

In 1885 William Kennish’s son William was Chief Inspector of the concrete structure making the base for the Statue of Liberty. He wrote to the New York Times to encourage subscribers to contribute to the great project, describing it with keen enthusiasm as 70ft high and a volume of 14,000 cubic yards.
